ROALD DAHL day, an extraordinary man

Roald Dahl is one of the most famous children's writers in the world. He died in 1990, but children still love his many books, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Twists and Matilda. Every year children celebrate his life and stories on Roald Dahl Day, September 13th, -the writer' s birthday-. Roald Dahl Day was originally organised by his widow, Felicity Dahl, in 2006. She wanted to celebrate Dahl's 90th birthday. She remembers, "Roald loved birthdays and treats. Now children celebrate his birthday every year. I am sure he is very happy". The Roald Dahl website offers free materials and it also give details of the Roald Dahl Relay. Visit the website www.roalddahlday.info and download activities, posters and games.
